re: Raiding Rules and Requirements

1

Before the Raid

Horizon raid times are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30pm to 10:30pm, with a ten minute break at around 9:30pm. Players are expected to be online for invitations at 8:15pm, and ready to go by 8:30pm. Please sign up to the raid on the guild calendar well in advance. If your position changes from tentative to available, indicate this also.

Players are expected to revise the mechanics of the boss fight before raid night. Check Youtube, Icy Veins, Noxxic or the Fight Strategy Discussions subforum.

If you have signed up for a raid but are unable to make it, or will be running late, please let an officer know or post on the Raid Absences subforum.

Getting your Character Ready

In order to raid, a character must:

  • be of average ilvl 690 (equipped).
  • possess at least the ilvl 680 ring from the legendary ring quest chain.
  • have all gems, enchants and glyphs. The second-best enchants and gems are sufficient.
  • be running Deadly Boss Mods or equivalent.

Players who do not meet these requirements will be benched without DKP, as per our DKP policy. That being said, everyone forgets things, and so we are willing to forgive a single missed enchant or gem as long as it is quickly corrected.

The ilvl requirement will change as the expansion progresses.

Tanks and Healers

Horizon has three main tanks which are rostered by the officers. There are also offspec tanks who fill the position as needed.

If there are too many healers, some will be asked to play their dps offspec. No healer is expected to play their dps offspec against their will. In the unlikely event that the raid composition is still not viable after this, healers may be asked to bench as a last resort. Likewise, if there are too few healers, dps players may be asked to bench. These decisions will be made by the raid leader in collaboration with the heal team and its leader.

Loot and DKP

Horizon's DKP policy may be found here. During loot distribution, please keep Vent clear for the master looter. Make sure you wait until after the final 10 DKP has been awarded before you leave the raid.

Communicating During Raids

Horizon uses Ventrilo for raid communication and two channels, horiztanks and horizhealers, for those in the designated roles for raiding and officers ONLY. Ventrilo details are posted in-game in the guild information panel. All players are expected to listen on Vent. We do not require a microphone, but it is recommended. If you are having trouble setting up your microphone, there is a guide available in this thread.

Keep Vent clear during boss attempts unless you are a designated caller. Keep your raid calls concise.

All fight strategy disagreements and discussions need to come to the forums outside of the pressured raid times. The raid as a whole becomes more disorganised when players are told too many different ways to do their job and handle mechanics. In particular, do not waste time discussing and analysing what went wrong after a wipe, or on what the raid needs to focus. Let the raid leader handle it.

Save communication with the raid leader for important issues specific to yourself. It's important to keep these requests for attention to high priority matters. Make use also of the tank and healer channels. Otherwise it can likely wait until the break or until after the raid.

The goal of Horizon's Vent policy is not to stifle feedback or genuinely useful adjustments, but rather to maximise the number of boss attempts in a single night of raiding.
